(transcript from Clubhouse recording)
Hi there, this is Joy. I don’t have any credentials or qualifiers to share, in case anybody is waiting for that part.
It is April the first, also known as April Fools Day, and I thought that it would be a good day to start this series highlighting words that have been said, and sometimes written, from depth and insight, pointing to that which is beyond words.
Over thousands of years, there have been plenty of words, in many languages, just lots of words, and so I thought that maybe revisiting some of them will help us see beyond them.
Dhammapada, verse 100

සහස්සම්පි cඑ ව්ācā අනට්තපඩසṃහිට්ā එකṃ අට්තපඩṃ සෙය්යො යṃ සුට්ව්ā උපසම්මටි – Sඉඩ්දට්ත ඝොටම
Today’s inaugural text is from the Dhammapada, verse 100, and I’ll read a few translations from Pāli by Muller, Narada, Wagiswara, and Buddharakkhita.
No one is in the “Room,” but hopefully someone will hear this replay and enjoy, and hopefully have some insight.
. . .
Better than a thousand utterances, comprising useless words, is one single beneficial word, by hearing which one is pacified.
– Siddhartha Gautama, translated from Pali by Ven. Nārada Thera
